What a wierdo.

How did you handle hit detection with the walls? Every tutorial I've done so far for this kind of top-down view has had me do hitPoint which kinda sucks ass. Obviously couldn't do hitTestObject unless walls were broken into many chunks which seems like overkill. Could you steer me in the right direction of a tutorial or tell me what I need to search for?

I actually didn't use AS3 at all, I used Haxe and HaxeFlixel. But every tile in the game was 40x40, so you can do simplified maths to get perfect collision as long as all the tiles are the same size and lined up. Look up tile based collision.
